Sixteen marathon websites that are not the race any more
Search a race by name and you often land on a domain its organiser stopped paying for. Sixteen of them, opened on 15 September 2026, now serve casinos, betting tips, a London gym, a shoe shop and a World of Warcraft gold guide. The Istanbul Marathon's official site is maraton.istanbul
The domain most links still point at, istanbulmarathon.org, is no longer the organiser's - it redirects somewhere else and its security certificate does not validate. The organiser's own site is maraton.istanbul. The 48th edition is Sunday 1 November 2026, and the title sponsor has changed.

The Paris Marathon has a new organiser, and the old website is gone
A.S.O. ran the race for twenty-eight years and lost the city's concession to Cadence Running United. The old schneiderelectricparismarathon.com now returns a server error on every page, the race is the ASICS Marathon de Paris, and the 2027 date is Sunday 4 April - not the 11 April several listings still carry.

Tokyo has dropped its 10.7 km race for 2027
The 2027 race guideline lists two events and the 10.7 km is not one of them. The organiser's own wording is that it "has been superseded by the marathon", alongside a new para-athlete marathon division and new entry categories for runners with disabilities. Race day is Sunday 7 March 2027.
