The rules
Terms of use
The rules for using this site and posting in its comment threads, and how to report something.
Last changed 3 October 2026.
Who runs it
MARATHON TRIP is made and run by Wessel Willemsen, in the Netherlands, as one person. Everything on this page, including reports and questions from authorities, can go to contact@marathontrip.com, in English or Dutch.
What the race information is, and is not
Every date, time and course fact here is checked against the organiser's own pages, and each race page says when. Organisers still move things, so check the organiser's site before you enter, book or travel; where the two disagree, the organiser is right and we would like to hear about it. Race names are used nominatively, to say which race a film is about. Marathon Trip is not affiliated with any race organiser. Nothing here is a booking: a link to a hotel or flight search takes you to another company, on its terms.
Your account
An account is for one person aged sixteen or over. Keep your password to yourself. You can delete the account whenever you like from your account page, and what that deletes is set out on the privacy page. We can close an account that is used to break the rules below.
Posting a comment
What you write stays yours. By posting it you let us show it under that race, on this site, for as long as it is up; deleting it, or your account, ends that.
Not allowed:
- anything against the law, including other people's work copied without permission;
- abuse, threats, harassment and hate aimed at anyone;
- someone else's private details, such as an address or a phone number;
- advertising, and pretending to be somebody you are not;
- links of any kind, which are refused before they post.
How comments are checked
A filter reads every comment before it posts. Abuse is refused, and you are told why. Swearing, and a comment written entirely in capitals, are held: you can see it in the thread marked "Waiting to be read" and nobody else can until a person has read it. Someone whose comments keep being refused or held has their next ones read first for a while.
Any signed-in reader can report a comment. Once 3 different readers have reported it, it comes down until a person has read it, and its author sees it marked "Taken down after reports". The person reading it puts it back or takes it down for good. If you think we got it wrong, write and say why to contact@marathontrip.com and it is read again from the start.
Reporting something illegal
If you are signed in, the Report button under a comment is the fastest way. Anyone, with or without an account, can also report by email to contact@marathontrip.com. To act on it we need the address of the thread and which comment, why you think it is illegal, and your name and email address, plus a line saying you believe the report is accurate. You get an answer saying what we did, and if a comment suggests somebody's life or safety is in danger, we tell the police.
The films, pictures and words
The films and the writing are ours. You are welcome to link to them, share them and embed a film from YouTube; please do not upload a copy anywhere else. The satellite pictures in the films are Google Earth's and its imagery providers', credited on screen. The course lines are drawn from OpenStreetMap, and every photograph is used under its own licence, credited on the credits page.
Changes, and the law
When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. Dutch law applies, and nothing on this page takes away a right the law gives you where you live.
