Course elevation profile, 8× vertical exaggeration Elevation along the course from km 0 to km 42. The trace runs between 882 and 936 metres, a range of 54 metres, drawn at 8 times vertical exaggeration so the shape is legible. Smoothed over 1 km before this profile was derived. An unsmoothed urban surface carries the buildings and would assert a climb that is not there. The dashed stretches are bridge decks: Avenida Marechal Floriano Peixoto, viaduct over the Linha Verde, km 24.6 to 24.9; Avenida Marechal Floriano Peixoto, viaduct over the Linha Verde, km 32 to 32.3; Viaduto do Capanema, km 38.5 to 38.8. A bare-earth model reads the ground or the water beneath a bridge, not the deck the runner is on, so those runs are interpolated between the ground either side rather than measured, and they under-report the real climb across a span.

km 0 to 42.2GradientA marathon at 900 m, with no real hillBrazil's highest state capital, and only 54 m between the course's highest and lowest road.

Curitiba sits at 934.6 m by IBGE’s count, the highest of Brazil’s 26 state capitals; only the federal capital, Brasília, is higher. The marathon never leaves that plateau: the road is at 900.8 m on the start line, 935.7 m at its highest near km 8.5 and 881.6 m at its lowest near km 30.1, so the whole race fits inside 54 m. Over a 1 km window it climbs 128.4 m.

The 2026 race runs the 2025 course, in the organiser’s words.

From City Hall the road goes up through the old town and onto the plateau south of the centre, 53.3 m of climbing in the first 8.5 km. The middle of the race gives that height back: the course comes down to 881.6 m around km 30.1, the lowest road of the day.

Then it climbs again, 44.2 m between km 30.1 and km 41.0, to 915.4 m. The last 1.2 km are downhill, 14 m to the finish beside City Hall.

The start and finish line is on Avenida Cândido de Abreu in front of the Palácio 29 de Março, Curitiba’s City Hall. The first kilometre and a half runs into the colonial old town: Largo da Ordem is about 86 m from the road at km 1.4, and the Cathedral on Praça Tiradentes, where the town began, about 78 m from it at km 1.45.
