Course elevation profile, 8× vertical exaggeration Elevation along the course from km 0 to km 42. The trace runs between 4 and 40 metres, a range of 35 metres, drawn at 8 times vertical exaggeration so the shape is legible. Smoothed over 1 km before this profile was derived. An unsmoothed urban surface carries the buildings and would assert a climb that is not there. The dashed stretches are bridge decks: Avenida General Paz, km 6.1 to 6.7; Puente Ángel Labruna, km 8.2 to 8.4; Avenida Elvira Rawson de Dellepiane, km 29.8 to 29.9; Macacha Güemes, km 33.9 to 33.9; Autopista Arturo Illia, km 39.6 to 40.1. A bare-earth model reads the ground or the water beneath a bridge, not the deck the runner is on, so those runs are interpolated between the ground either side rather than measured, and they under-report the real climb across a span.

km 13.6 to 21.5GradientOne rise, into the centreAbout 90 m of climb in all, most of it from km 16 to 21.5 into the centre. Flat from km 26.

The course the organiser showed for 2026 climbs about 90 m in all. The first 14 km, out along Figueroa Alcorta and Libertador to General Paz and back past Palermo, stay below 11 m, and a short swell on Libertador at km 15 tops out at 16 m. The real rise is one stretch: from about 7 m on Avenida del Libertador at km 16, past Recoleta and along 9 de Julio to the Obelisco, to the highest point, 39.6 m, on Diagonal Norte at km 21.5.

From there the road comes back down through San Telmo to La Boca, and from km 26 to the finish it never rises above 9.5 m: Pedro de Mendoza, the Costanera Sur, Puerto Madero, Retiro and the river road back to Palermo. The lowest point, 4.2 m, is on Avenida Sarmiento by the Planetario, at km 40.8.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.
