The start and finish are on the Haedgehalbinsel in the Rostock city harbour. The marathon route follows the Warnow, goes through the Warnow tunnel into the IGA Park and returns the same way. Marathon runners must pass the checkpoint at the Warnow crossing toll station on the east bank, at 21.1 km, by 20:40, a target time of 2:40. Every kilometre is marked with a sign, and police and helpers keep the road free of traffic.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.
