Course elevation profile, 8× vertical exaggeration Elevation along the course from km 0 to km 21. The trace runs between 2547 and 2603 metres, a range of 57 metres, drawn at 8 times vertical exaggeration so the shape is legible. Smoothed over 1 km before this profile was derived. An unsmoothed urban surface carries the buildings and would assert a climb that is not there. The dashed stretches are bridge decks: Avenida Calle 53, km 2 to 2.3; Avenida Calle 92, km 15.3 to 15.5. A bare-earth model reads the ground or the water beneath a bridge, not the deck the runner is on, so those runs are interpolated between the ground either side rather than measured, and they under-report the real climb across a span.

km 0 to 21.1GradientA high city, and one long riseBogotá is at about 2,550 m; the half climbs to km 6.7, then drifts down to a finish level with the start.

Bogotá is a high city, and the whole half marathon lies between 2,547 m and 2,603 m: the start at Parque Simón Bolívar reads 2,551 m, the finish 2,552 m, and the race never leaves a 57 m band.

Within that band the shape is simple. The road is almost flat for the first 2 km (2,551 m at the start, 2,553 m at km 2), then rises for about 4.7 km to the high point of 2,603 m at km 6.7. 52 m of the race’s 66.9 m of climbing comes before that point. After it the course gives most of the height back: 2,582 m at km 10, about 2,555 m at km 15, and the low point, 2,547 m, at km 18.5, before a last two kilometres that rise a few metres to the finish.

Measured

Whole courseCrowdFour waves at 08:30, and a 10K on its own routeHalf marathon waves go at 08:30, 08:38, 08:46 and 08:54; the 10K starts at 10:00 on its own route.

The organiser’s rules put the 21K elite group and the first wave on the road at 08:30, followed by the second wave at 08:38, the third at 08:46 and the fourth at 08:54. Wave numbers follow the finishing time a runner gave at registration and are printed on the bib. The assembly area at the Plaza de Eventos of Parque Simón Bolívar opens at 06:00 and warm-ups begin at 06:15.

The rules describe the 21K and the 10K as two routes with different timetables: the 10K goes off from 10:00 in waves of its own, the last at 10:24. The organiser’s homepage says more than 40,000 runners take part each year and notes the race has carried World Athletics quality labels since 2009.

The organiser’s FAQ lists the official hydration points as the service islands on both routes: at km 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 on the 21K, and at km 3, 5 and 8 on the 10K. Each island has a first-aid point. The Recorridos page adds that an island carries water, isotonic drink, toilets, organisers who give information and collection points for recyclable waste.

The FAQ lists no island after km 19, so the last 2.1 km of the half marathon has none.

Whole courseGeometryWhich year's routeThe organiser's route is named for 2025 and filed under a 2026 heading.

The organiser’s Recorridos page offers a GPX download for the 21K, and the track inside it is named “mmB 21K 2025”. The page’s own text is headed “Recorridos Oficiales media maratón Bogotá 2026”. That is the only route the organiser publishes, and it is not dated to the 2027 race.

The organiser says the course is certified by World Athletics and that the race starts and finishes at Parque Simón Bolívar.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.
