Height drawn many times taller than life. Heights: GEDTM30.

Course elevation profile, 8× vertical exaggeration Elevation along the course from km 0 to km 42. The trace runs between 374 and 454 metres, a range of 80 metres, drawn at 8 times vertical exaggeration so the shape is legible. Smoothed over 1 km before this profile was derived. An unsmoothed urban surface carries the buildings and would assert a climb that is not there. The dashed stretches are bridge decks: Pont des Bergues, km 38.8 to 39; Pont du Mont-Blanc, km 42.1 to 42.2. A bare-earth model reads the ground or the water beneath a bridge, not the deck the runner is on, so those runs are interpolated between the ground either side rather than measured, and they under-report the real climb across a span.

km 6 to 21.1GradientA rolling first half above the lakeRises 25.5 m to the high point at km 12.8, then gives it all back by 21 km.

The organiser describes the first part as countryside and the layout as rolling, and says that “more than 50% of whom beat their personal best each year”. The first half bears that out: from the start in Cologny at about 421 m the road gains 25.5 m between km 5.9 and km 12.8, the high point of the whole course at about 453.8 m, and returns to about 422 m at 21.1 km.

These heights are for the organiser’s 2025 course; the 2027 course is not published yet.

Measured

km 28.3 to 42.2FinishDown to the lake, then flat to the bridgeA 61 m drop from km 28 to km 34, then level along the lake to the finish.

The course ends in the city. The organiser’s description gives runners “a beautiful view of the lake, the famous Jet d’Eau and the Alpine peaks before a final sprint on one of the symbols of Geneva: the Mont-Blanc Bridge”.

The way down is concentrated in one stretch: from about 435.7 m at km 28.3 to about 374.4 m at km 34.4. From there to the finish the road stays at about 374 m, so the last 8 km have no hill in them, and the course crosses the Pont des Bergues near km 38.8 and the Mont-Blanc bridge itself in the final 100 m.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.
