The organiser’s 2026 course overview lists the points of interest in running order, and the list repeats itself. The Rudolfinum, home of the Czech Philharmonic, is passed at 3.8 km and again at 32.5 km. The National Theatre comes at 14.5 km and again at 31.8 km. David Černý’s Lilith sculpture in Karlín is at 9.3 km and at 38.7 km.
The race starts on Old Town Square, comes back through it at 12.7 km, runs on through Celetná Street, past the Powder Tower and down Wenceslas Square, and finishes on the square where it began. Charles Bridge is at 2.8 km, Prague Castle is in view at 1.8 km and Vyšehrad is at 21.3 km. The 2027 map had not been published when this was written; the course described here is the 2026 one.
Sourced
Prague lies at about 190 to 200 m above sea level and the course stays within 24 m of one height from start to finish. The organiser puts Karlín and the Lilith sculpture at 9.3 km, where the course reaches its low point at 185.2 m. It then climbs to 209.0 m at 13.8 km, just past the organiser’s Wenceslas Square mark at 13.6 km. That is the only climb of any length: 23.8 m in about 4.6 km.
The rest is flat running. The road settles back near 190 m by the second half, and the last climb is the final 3.4 km from the dip at 38.8 km (185.2 m) back up to Old Town Square at 200.9 m.
Measured
Starts and finishes on Old Town Square, crossing Charles Bridge and running under Prague Castle, then out past the Dancing House and Vyšehrad before turning back into the historic centre for the finish.
The Prague Marathon is a loop of 42.2 km with 97.5 m of climbing. Its lowest point is 185 m and its highest 209 m above sea level. Next race: Sunday 2 May 2027, starting at 08:00.
