Whole courseTacticsMid-October from 2027Marathon Weekend moves to 15 to 17 October in 2027, after 45 years in early October.

The organiser made the change after the extreme heat that cancelled the Sunday events in 2023, and says mid-October offers cooler conditions and peak fall colour. The marathon runs from Minneapolis to Saint Paul and crosses the Mississippi River. The 2026 race ran on 4 October.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.
