The organiser describes a loop through seven zones of Kanazawa, from Kenrokuen and the Ishikawa Gate to the rice fields facing the Hakusan mountains and the new district west of the station.
The organiser calls it a loop through seven zones. The historic zone takes in Kenrokuen, the Ishikawa Gate of Kanazawa Castle, Higashiyama and the temple district. The city-centre zone passes the Kotsuzumi Gate at Kanazawa Station, Musashigatsuji and Katamachi and Korinbo. A hillside trunk road zone is normally open only to cars and has a viaduct across the river terraces. The university district, with Kanazawa University and Hokuriku University, offers many student supporters and water volunteers. An old highway zone keeps the machiya townhouses and the crooked street corners of the castle town. Open farmland with the Hakusan mountains in view comes late, and the station west zone, with the 50 m road and the prefectural office, follows it.

The 2026 race is on Sunday 25 October, from 8:30 to 15:30, in rain too. It starts in front of the Shiinoki Guest House and finishes at the athletics stadium in Ishikawa Prefectural West Park, on a course certified by JAAF, World Athletics and AIMS. The organiser lists 15,000 places, with a lottery when entries exceed them and priority places for elite runners, volunteers, runners from abroad (first 1,000), tour participants (first 400), runners from the Noto region and others. The fee is 14,000 yen for an individual entry, plus a handling fee when paying.
