The organiser calls it India’s premier ultra half marathon and gives four phases. The first 3.75 km is smooth tarmac from the centre of Satara. From 3.75 km to 10.5 km the road climbs Yawateshwar hill on winding mountain roads, and the organiser quotes 434 m of total elevation gain. The turnaround is at the summit, 10.5 km in, and the second half is the same hill coming down to the finish in the race arena. Its steep climb segment is 3.75 km long, which the organiser compares to Fields Hill on the Comrades Marathon’s uphill route.

The 2026 half marathon started at 6:30 AM. The organiser times it with electronic chips, and the time for the medal grade only starts when a runner crosses the timing mat at the start line. The three grades are Hill Champion (2 hours), Hill Conqueror (2 hours 30 minutes) and Hill Challenger (4 hours). Every finisher also gets an online certificate with the finishing time.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.

One in a pocket cushions a blister if one starts.

Put it on clean, dry skin and leave it until it comes off by itself.

Give a couple to whoever comes to cheer, so they are there at the km you need them.
