The 2026 half marathon sets off from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at 05:30, and your wave, A to F, comes from the finish time on the timing certificate you applied with: A is up to 1:50:00, F is over 3:00:00 or no certificate.
The organiser’s wave page reads: “Start Wave A: Finish time up to 01:50:00” and “Start Wave F: Finish time from 3:00:01 onwards and applications without a timing certificate.” Between them sit B (up to 2:10:00), C (up to 2:30:00), D (up to 2:45:00) and E (up to 3:00:00), all for a half marathon time. A marathon, 25 km or 10 km time is accepted too, with its own bands.
The handbook for the 2026 race gives the release times: A at 05:30, B at 05:33, C at 05:40, D at 05:47, E at 05:53 and F at 05:57, with the start line closing at 06:05. Official time runs from the moment you cross the start line, not from the gun.

The handbook tabulates the weather on 18 October for the past three years. At 5 am the readings are 21°C in 2025, 22°C in 2024 and 20°C in 2023, all clear. By 10 am they are 28°C, 30°C and 28°C, under a sunny sky.
The first wave goes at 05:30 and the last at 05:57. A runner in a late wave, or one who finishes close to the 09:40 cut-off, meets the warmer end of that range. The handbook’s own advice is to plan the early start and the travel to the stadium well in advance.

Three limits are stated and they are not the same thing. The handbook lists a “Finish cut-off time” of 09:40 on its race day timings. The wave page says that “timing results and certificates will be generated only for runners who complete the Half Marathon distance within 3 hr and 30 mins from the start time.” And the regulations say: “Course roads will reopen to vehicular traffic at 10:30 AM. Participants still on the course after this time must move to the footpaths to finish their run safely.”
A runner released at 05:57 in wave F has 3 hr 43 min to the 09:40 clock cut-off and 3 hr 30 min to an official time. The start line itself closes at 06:05, and a runner who starts after it gets no official time.

The information page gives “Race Starts from: Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JLNS)” and “Race Ends at: Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JLNS)”, with the distance as “21.097 Km approx.” The handbook adds that “your finish line is inside the JLN Stadium premises”.
The organiser also links the half marathon’s World Athletics and AIMS course measurement certificate. It reads 21.0975 km, grade A, measured on 11 October 2022 and valid to 31 December 2026.

Race fuel
One every 40 minutes, by the clock:
Under about 75 minutes most runners need no gel: water at the aid stations does it.
For your long training runs:
Our pick: SiS BETA Fuel gel, box of 6, strawberry and lime. 40 g of carbohydrate a gel, about twice a usual gel, from two kinds of sugar your body takes up side by side. Enough for race day and two test long runs.
Easy to forget on race morning: pack them with your bib the night before.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.
