Whole courseGeometryOut of the EUR, then straight to the seaFrom the EUR to the sea at Ostia along Via Cristoforo Colombo.

The start is on Via Cristoforo Colombo opposite the PalaEUR, at Viale dell’Umanesimo, and the first kilometres loop through the EUR on flat, wide roads, crossing the bridge over the Laghetto dell’EUR within the first kilometre. From just past 4 km the course runs down Via Cristoforo Colombo towards Ostia, with a gentle slope up to the Pontina junction and under the Grande Raccordo Anulare.

The organiser describes a refreshing descent of about 2.5 km to the 15th kilometre, then a gentler slope with small changes until the finish. After the line, runners walk towards the seafront for the medal; the Ostia to Rome train stops about 200 metres from the finish, with trains every 15 minutes.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.

One in a pocket cushions a blister if one starts.

Put it on clean, dry skin and leave it until it comes off by itself.

Give a couple to whoever comes to cheer, so they are there at the km you need them.
