The Classic runs 126 km from Las Canteras beach in Las Palmas to Maspalomas, with 6,764 m of ascent and 6,734 m of descent by the organiser's table, and 30 hours to finish.
The start is on the sea at 23:59 and the finish is at Parque Sur in Maspalomas, 31 m above sea level. The organiser’s table has ten checkpoints. Arucas (19.3 km), Teror (31.7 km) and Moya (43.1 km) come in the first half, Artenara (66.8 km) and Tejeda (79.2 km) in the second, and El Garañón (90.8 km) is the highest at 1,677 m. After Tunte (100.4 km) and Ayagaures (112 km) the finish is 14 km away. The finish closes at 06:00 on the Sunday.

The organiser says the Marathon is defined by its speed, but the climb comes first: from Tejeda up to the El Garañón checkpoint at 11.7 km and 1,677 m, then a technical descent through Tunte (21.2 km) and Ayagaures (32.8 km). Two gentler climbs follow before the finish at Parque Sur in Maspalomas. Cut-off times depend on the starting pen. The event also has a Half, a Promo, a Vertical Kilometre, an Advanced race and stage races.

The 2027 regulations put both the Marathon and the Classic on Friday 26 February, the Marathon at 09:30 and the Classic at 23:59.

Race fuel
One every 40 minutes, by the clock:
Under about 75 minutes most runners need no gel: water at the aid stations does it.
For your long training runs:
Our pick: SiS BETA Fuel gel, box of 6, strawberry and lime. 40 g of carbohydrate a gel, about twice a usual gel, from two kinds of sugar your body takes up side by side. Enough for race day and two test long runs.
Easy to forget on race morning: pack them with your bib the night before.
We earn a small fee if you buy through these links. The price is the same.

Outside the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the UK and Ireland, Spain and Portugal, Italy, the rest of the EU and Canada the button opens GU Energy Gel, Chocolate Outrage, 24-pack on Amazon.com, the best seller there.
An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.
Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.
Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.

Holds your bib without safety pins through your top, with loops for up to 8 gels.
Clip the bib on the night before, so it goes on with your shorts in the morning.
Keep the number on the front, where officials and photographers can see it.

One tablet in a bottle puts back some of the salt you sweat out.
One tablet in 500 ml of water in the hour before the start.
Only if you have used them in training: nothing new on race day.

One in a pocket cushions a blister if one starts.
Put it on clean, dry skin and leave it until it comes off by itself.
Give a couple to whoever comes to cheer, so they are there at the km you need them.
