The out-and-back runs the highway between Eko Atlantic City and its turn at km 19.96.

Height drawn many times taller than life. Heights: GEDTM30.

Course elevation profile, 8× vertical exaggeration Elevation along the course from km 0 to km 42. The trace runs between 0 and 5 metres, a range of 5 metres, drawn at 8 times vertical exaggeration so the shape is legible. Smoothed over 1 km before this profile was derived. An unsmoothed urban surface carries the buildings and would assert a climb that is not there. The dashed stretches are bridge decks: Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, bridge, km 11.7 to 11.8; Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, bridge, km 28.1 to 28.2; Eko Boulevard, bridge, km 41.6 to 41.6. A bare-earth model reads the ground or the water beneath a bridge, not the deck the runner is on, so those runs are interpolated between the ground either side rather than measured, and they under-report the real climb across a span.

This is a coastal course with no hill. The road runs between sea level and 5.3 m above it, and 72% of the course is at 4 m or lower. The high point is at km 16.4, on the way out along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway; the low point is at the finish in Eko Atlantic City.

In all the marathon climbs 19.7 m, about half of it on the way out and half on the way back. Three short bridge decks, at about km 11.7, 28.1 and 41.6, carry the road over water and creeks. A watch on the day will count more small rises than these figures do.

Measured

km 0 to 42.2LandmarkOut and back from Eko Atlantic CityEko Atlantic City out along the coastal highway to the halfway turn, and back.

The 2026 start is at the ORCA Mall on Ahmadu Bello Way, in Eko Atlantic City, the reclaimed waterfront district on Victoria Island. The course leaves it and takes the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway east and back along it.

The organiser’s map pins every 2.5 km and puts the turn between its 20 km and 22.5 km pins, so the halfway point is the turn itself. The runners come back along the highway to finish in front of Eko Atlantic City, where they started.

The race went off at 6:30 am on 14 February 2026, with the marathon cut off at 12:30 pm, six hours later. The organiser expects about 22 to 27 degrees at the start, and the day only warms from there.

Water stations stand every 2.5 km from 2.5 km to 40 km and at the finish. Sponges are handed out at 5 km and every 5 km after it up to 40 km. Toilets follow the stations at the same distances, and a medical station sits about 200 m past each main drink station.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.
