Whole courseGeometryMounts Bay Road and a car-free Northbridge TunnelThe 2026 half: Mounts Bay Road, freeway views and the Northbridge Tunnel without cars.

For the 2026 race the organiser described the half marathon as “a scenic stretch along Mounts Bay Road, freeway views, and the rare opportunity to run through the Northbridge Tunnel without a car in sight”, on “a flat, fast course”. It started at the corner of Hay Street and William Street and finished at Gloucester Park in East Perth. Asked whether the tunnel is safe, the organiser answers that it is “ventilated, lit, and cleared of traffic before the event”. The page gives the distance as approximately 21.1 km. The 2027 race is on Sunday 23 May 2027; the organiser’s pages describe the 2026 course.

The 2026 half marathon had a seeded wave and a blue wave at 6:35am, an orange wave at about 6:45am and a pastel yellow wave at about 6:55am. The organiser’s page says nobody could start the half marathon after 7:10am and lists three cut-offs, all by the clock: 8:45am at Aid Station 2 (approx. 9 km), under the Narrows Bridge; 11:00am at Aid Station 5 (approx. 16 km), near the stadium; and 11:30am at the western end of the Causeway (approx. 20 km). The half marathon is for runners and joggers only, “due to cut-off times”, and prams are not permitted on it.

Whole courseCrowd40,000 people and a fundraising dayA sold-out 2026: 40,000 people, three courses, over $1.85 million raised for 350+ charities.

The organiser’s page reads “Sold out for a second year running, the HBF Run for a Reason saw 40,000 people take to Perth’s streets” and counts $1,854,915 raised for over 350 vital charities in 2026 and over $16 million since 2010. There are three courses, a half marathon, a 12 km and a 3 km. The 2026 half marathon was sold out. Entry fees do not go to the charities: the organiser says the money raised comes from participants fundraising for a cause close to their hearts. The 2027 race is on Sunday 23 May 2027.

For the 2026 race, showing a participant bib gave “complimentary travel until 3pm” on all public transport services. The organiser’s advice for the finish: “Catch the train to Stadium Station and walk across Matagarup Bridge. Signs from the bridge will direct you into Gloucester Park. Please don’t try to drive to the finish line.” Extra services ran to cater for the crowds, and roads were closed across Perth on the day.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.
