The organiser describes a scenic loop around Phoenix Park, Europe’s largest enclosed public park. On the 2026 route the race heads from Chesterfield Avenue towards Mountjoy Cross, turns left onto Ordnance Survey Road, then follows Knockmaroon Road, Upper Glen Road and Military Road. A climb takes runners onto Wellington Road, then the path beside Chesterfield Avenue and around the Fifteen Acres, and back by Acres Road to the Phoenix Monument. After the Phoenix Roundabout the route follows Chesterfield Avenue to Castleknock Gate, where it makes a U-turn, and returns down the avenue to Ordnance Survey Road and a final left turn onto Furze Road for the finish.

Dublin Marathon Group coach Emmett Dunleavy advises runners to trust their instinct as well as their target pace and to adjust for the rolling hills, because most of the incline comes late. For fuelling he suggests one gel halfway for a time of 70 minutes or under, and two gels, a third and two thirds of the way, for anything slower.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.
