The course

The organiser's 10K starts and finishes at TQL Stadium and crosses the river into Kentucky, in what it calls one of the longest continuously held road races in the United States.

Every Thanksgiving morning the race winds through the centre of Cincinnati and across the Ohio River into Kentucky, and the organiser describes a festive course with sweeping river views. The 2026 race, on Thursday 26 November, is the 117th running. Strollers are allowed, with a request to start toward the back of the line, and the 10K starts and finishes at TQL Stadium.

Packets for the 10K and the 5K are collected in the First Financial Club at TQL Stadium, where runners can also register onsite and visit the Fleet Feet Expo. Parking at pick-up is free in the TQL Stadium East Garage, a two-minute walk away. On race day the downtown and Over-the-Rhine garages offer flat-rate parking, $5 at most locations and $6 at Town Center Garage, and the prepaid $5 rate at select garages needs an arrival by 8:30 am.

Finish

Under about 75 minutes most runners need no gel: water at the aid stations does it.

For your long training runs:

Our pick: SiS BETA Fuel gel, box of 6, strawberry and lime. 40 g of carbohydrate a gel, about twice a usual gel, from two kinds of sugar your body takes up side by side.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.

One tablet in a bottle puts back some of the salt you sweat out.

One tablet in 500 ml of water in the hour before the start.

Only if you have used them in training: nothing new on race day.

One in a pocket cushions a blister if one starts.

Put it on clean, dry skin and leave it until it comes off by itself.

Give a couple to whoever comes to cheer, so they are there at the km you need them.
