An unsmoothed urban surface carries the buildings and would assert a climb that is not there.

The start at the Knesset is at 776 m. The highest point, 814 m, comes at km 10.5, and a second crest of about 809 m follows at km 19.7, after the loop around Mount Scopus. From there the road drops about 68 m to 740 m at km 25.9, in the stretch around the Old City, and then rolls between 740 m and 780 m until the last third.

The lowest point, 727 m, is at km 40.8, only 1.4 km from the finish. The last kilometres climb about 29 m to the finish at 756 m in Sacher Park. Short ramps inside those stretches are steeper than the averages.

km 0 to 42.2LandmarkFrom the Knesset past Mount Scopus and through the Old CityMount Scopus near km 18, the Old City between km 24 and 26, the First Station at km 30.

The organiser’s road story starts at the junction between the Knesset and the Israel Museum, heads northwest, and goes on towards Ammunition Hill and Mount Scopus. After circling the Hebrew University’s Mount Scopus campus the course returns to the Old City, passing the Mamilla neighbourhood and the Jaffa Gate, and continues through the Armenian Quarter to end its Old City stretch at the Zion Gate.

Along the course Ammunition Hill is at about km 16, Mount Scopus at km 18, the Jaffa Gate at km 24 and the Zion Gate at km 25. The Sultan’s Pool and the Cinematheque follow at km 27 and the First Station at km 30. The organiser says the finish is the southern end of Sacher Park, entered “via the Valley of the Cross and the tunnel at the entrance to the city”.
