The course

The marathon's main feature, in the organiser's words, is running across the sea on gravel dikes six to eight metres wide, with turquoise water and salt formations on both sides.

  • Unpaved and flatFlat and fast, but unpaved dirt road until the last kilometre.

The start and finish are on the new promenade of the Ein Bokek hotel complex, and the organiser says most aid stations are passed twice, on the way out and the way back. The marathon is measured by an IAA certified expert and starts on Friday 5 February 2027 at 6:15, with the gate open from 6:00.

Aid stations stand every two to three kilometres with bottled water and isotonic drink in cups, and some on the long courses add gels, snacks and fruit. There is no service for leaving food or clothing along the course, so the organiser recommends a hydration belt with your own gel or bar. The minimum age for the marathon is 17.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.
