The organiser describes the 2026 marathon as a tour of central Kota Kinabalu, coastal roads and suburban areas, mostly flat with gentle rolling hills and drinks every 2 to 3 km.
The organiser’s route page for the 7 to 10 May 2026 weekend calls the full marathon a complete scenic tour through the city centre of Kota Kinabalu, coastal roads and suburban areas. It lists the elevation as mostly flat with gentle rolling hills and says water stations stand every 2 to 3 km. The half marathon is a coastal route with a city centre finish and the 10 km a city centre circuit with waterfront views.
