For the 2026 race on 31 May the organiser set the marathon gun at 7:00 to avoid rapidly rising temperatures on race day.
On 18 May 2026 the organising committee announced an adjusted start time for the 2026 Jilin City Marathon, to deal with temperatures that can climb quickly on race day: the marathon gun was set for 7:00 on 31 May 2026. The marathon (zones S, A and B) started at 7:00, half marathon zone C at 7:20 and zone D at 7:40. Runners had to line up in the zone matching their personal best, and the clothes drop closed 15 minutes before each zone’s gun.

The organiser’s 2026 notice sets a closing time at each kilometre point for the marathon (zones S, A and B) and separate tables for half marathon zones C and D. At a gate the timing mat at that point stops and the road behind returns to traffic. Runners who have not covered the distance must leave the course; they can ride a collection vehicle to the finish or take public transport. A runner who does not cross every timing mat in the zone ahead of them gets no valid result. The notice gives the gate times as a table image, so they are not repeated here.
