The marathon starts at 06:00 at the Olympic Sport Centre Stadium in Taipa and the competition ends at 12:00, a limit of 6 hours.
The organiser’s programme for the 2026 race, on Sunday 6 December, has the stadium doors opening at 05:00 as the “first call”, the marathon and the half marathon starting at 06:00 and the mini marathon at 06:20. The marathon’s award ceremony is set for 12:00, the same hour the organiser gives for the end of the competition.
The marathon has a time limit of 6 hours. The organiser sets several check points along the course, which every marathon and half marathon runner has to pass, and reserves the right to stop anyone who has not passed one before its time limit. The check point locations depend on road conditions and are announced before the start. A runner who cannot finish within the limit is asked to leave the course, because the safety measures are removed behind them.

The organiser’s 2026 information page lists 42 signboards, one every kilometre, and first aid stations and mobile toilets placed along the course. A drinks station is set up within the first 5 km. After that, water, sports drinks or sponges are supplied every 2.5 km, and a signboard is placed 100 m before each refreshment station.
There are two showers, one on the Macao Peninsula and one in Cotai. The finish line area is supplied with water, sports drinks, bananas and chocolate, and has toilets, changing rooms, shower facilities and storage for personal belongings.

The marathon is the smallest of the three races on the 6 December 2026 programme: 2,000 places, with 5,000 for the half marathon and 5,000 for the mini marathon of about 5 km. The organiser’s regulations state that the route was certified by an official AIMS delegate in accordance with the World Athletics regulations.
The 2026 marathon entry fee was MOP 400 for a runner from outside Macao and MOP 150 for a Macao SAR resident, with entries taken online only and places given in the order entries were completed.
