The organiser says the circuit that premiered in 2022 is more central, more touristic, faster and flatter. It starts from Hernani Street in the city centre and arrives at the Boulevard, passing the Paseo de la Concha, the Victoria Eugenia Theatre, the Anoeta Stadium, the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, the Kursaal and Plaza Gipuzkoa. The last kilometre-plus is a completely flat straight to the finish line. The organiser also describes the whole route as urban, flat and at sea level.

The regulation counts the five hours from the first participant passing through the start carpet at each of the two programmed starts, and removes athletes who miss the limit. Entry is online only, and a federation licence is not needed because a one-day national licence can be bought at registration. Refreshment points stand at least every 5 km from km 5, and the organiser provides pacers for eight paces from 2:45 to 5:00.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.
