Course elevation profile, 8× vertical exaggeration Elevation along the course from km 0 to km 21. The trace runs between 99 and 112 metres, a range of 13 metres, drawn at 8 times vertical exaggeration so the shape is legible. Smoothed over 1 km before this profile was derived. An unsmoothed urban surface carries the buildings and would assert a climb that is not there. The dashed stretches are bridge decks: Margit híd, km 0.4 to 0.9; Szabadság híd, km 5 to 5.3; Árpád híd, km 14.3 to 15.3; Margit híd, km 18.2 to 18.6. A bare-earth model reads the ground or the water beneath a bridge, not the deck the runner is on, so those runs are interpolated between the ground either side rather than measured, and they under-report the real climb across a span. The organiser’s route list for 2027 runs from the start on the Schulek Frigyes promenade, on the island, over the north carriageway of Margit híd to Jászai Mari tér, then down the Pest lower embankment (Pesti alsó rakpart) to Fővám tér and across Szabadság híd to Szent Gellért tér. From there it runs north on the Buda side along Műegyetem rakpart and the Buda lower embankment (Budai alsó rakpart), turns inland onto Árpád fejedelem útja and crosses Árpád híd to Pest. It comes back down Népfürdő utca and the Pest lower embankment to Jászai Mari tér, takes the north carriageway of Margit híd once more and finishes on the island, on the same promenade as the start.

The organiser’s page also promises the view of the Buda Castle from the river bank, the Pest panorama and the Parliament.

Margaret Island, where the race starts and finishes, is at about 106 m. The first stretch along the Pest embankment, from about km 2 to km 4, sits between about 100 and 103 m, and the Buda side from about km 6 to km 11.5 between about 98.6 and 104 m, which includes the lowest point of the course, about 98.6 m, near km 8.5. Along Árpád fejedelem útja, from about km 11.5 to km 14, the road is at about 105 to 107 m, and it reaches about 109.5 m on Árpád híd near km 14.8. The highest point, about 111.9 m, is near km 18.4, on the last crossing of Margit híd, from where the finish on the island is about 106 m.

A watch that adds up every short rise reads more than 37.1 m.

km 0 to 1TacticsSeven start zones, and pacers from 1:30 to 3:00Zone 1 is a half in under 1:35; zone 7 is slower than 2:27. Pacers run seven finish times.

The 9:00 start is staggered. Zone 1 is a half marathon inside 1:35:00 (under 4:30 per kilometre); zone 2 is 1:35:00 to 1:45:00; zone 3 is 1:45:00 to 1:56:00; zone 4 is 1:56:00 to 2:06:00; zone 5 is 2:06:00 to 2:17:00; zone 6 is 2:17:00 to 2:27:00 and zone 7 is anything slower. The organiser says each runner may stand only in the zone for the pace they entered, so that the first kilometres are calmer and there is less overtaking, and that the gates stay open between waves so a runner can join the starters for the pace they planned while the start is under way. Zone flags are yellow with black numerals and match the zone printed on the bib.

Pacers run for seven finish times: 1:30, 1:45, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45 and 3:00, at planned paces from 4:14 per kilometre for 1:30 to 8:26 to 8:38 per kilometre for 3:00. The start is on Margaret Island, 1.5 km from the race centre.

The organiser’s homepage says that “2026-ban egy hétvége alatt több mint 38.000 résztvevő futott, mozgott különböző távokon”: more than 38,000 people ran or moved over one weekend in 2026, across all the distances, not on the half marathon alone. The festival runs on Saturday 10 April 2027 and the half marathon, the pairs and trio relays go off together at 9:00 on Sunday 11 April, with the 10K following at 13:00. The organiser calls the event Hungary’s largest two-day spring sports event, and says its half marathon is one of the most popular in the country, with runners from more than 100 countries.
