The route leaves the city through the Zuiderpark at the 5 km point, where the first aid station stands, and passes the villages of Wateringen, Kwintsheul, Honselersdijk, Poeldijk and Monster, with the Dijkstraat in Honselersdijk the shopping street where many supporters are expected. After Madestein and the Ockenburgh nature reserve the Westland loop ends at Kijkduin, then runs beside the dunes to Scheveningen harbour and the boulevard and inland again at the Kurhaus just before 40 km.
