Course elevation profile, 8× vertical exaggeration Elevation along the course from km 0 to km 21. The trace runs between 2 and 16 metres, a range of 14 metres, drawn at 8 times vertical exaggeration so the shape is legible. Smoothed over 1 km before this profile was derived. An unsmoothed urban surface carries the buildings and would assert a climb that is not there. The dashed stretches are bridge decks: 高松善通寺線, km 4.6 to 4.8; 高松善通寺線, km 7.5 to 7.5; 高松善通寺線, km 13.3 to 13.4; 高松善通寺線, km 16.1 to 16.2; 坂出丸亀バイパス, km 20.5 to 21. A bare-earth model reads the ground or the water beneath a bridge, not the deck the runner is on, so those runs are interpolated between the ground either side rather than measured, and they under-report the real climb across a span.

The organiser traces the race to the first Kagawa Marathon on 9 March 1947 (Showa 22). Kayoko Fukushi set the women’s Japanese and Asian records here, and Tomoki Ota set the men’s Japanese record at the 77th edition. The organiser credits the mild weather and the flat course for the fast times. The 2027 race is the 79th edition, held with the 30th Japan Student Half Marathon Championships.
