The course

The 2026 Gyeongju Marathon assigns starting groups by the average speed on a runner's submitted race certificate, across the marathon, 32 km, half marathon and 10 km.

  • Starting groups set by race certificatesFaster certificates start in earlier groups; no certificate means a later group.
  • Gathering at Gyeongju Civic StadiumAssembly before 7:00 at the Civic Stadium, start at 8:00.

The organiser’s notice says starting groups are based on the average speed of an official race result from the past two years, with records from 14 July 2024 on counting. Results are submitted through Runarchive. Runners with faster average speeds start in earlier groups, whichever distance they run: the marathon, 32 km, half marathon and 10 km runners with the same average speed start together. Runners who submit nothing, or whose record is not accepted, are placed in a later group.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.

Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.

One in a pocket cushions a blister if one starts.

Put it on clean, dry skin and leave it until it comes off by itself.

Give a couple to whoever comes to cheer, so they are there at the km you need them.
