The organiser describes the marathon as two laps of about 21 km from the Messe through the Seepark, Weingarten, Haslach, St. Georgen and Wiehre, along the Dreisam into the old town and over the Wiwili bridge back to the finish.
The organiser’s course text reads “Zwei Runden, ein Freiburg-Panorama”: from the Messe through the Seepark, the districts of Weingarten, Haslach, St. Georgen and Wiehre, along the Dreisam to the historic Altstadt, and back to the finish over the Wiwilibrücke. The key figures give the length as 2 x 21 km.
The page’s own list of points on the course reads Seepark at km 2, Dietenbachpark at km 5, Wiehre at km 12, the Dreisam at km 15, the Altstadt and the Freiburger Münster at km 16, and the Wiwili-Brücke at km 17, and names the bridge, the symbol in the marathon logo, as the highlight, with a view of the Herz-Jesu-Kirche.

The organiser lists “Höhenmeter: 200 hm” and describes the course as “flach bis leicht hügelig”: “Keine großen Steigungen, dafür stetige, sanfte Wellen”, which it calls ideal for even pacing and personal bests. The figure is the organiser’s own.

Race fuel
One every 40 minutes, by the clock:
Under about 75 minutes most runners need no gel: water at the aid stations does it.
For your long training runs:
Our pick: SiS BETA Fuel gel, box of 6, strawberry and lime. 40 g of carbohydrate a gel, about twice a usual gel, from two kinds of sugar your body takes up side by side. Enough for race day and two test long runs.
Easy to forget on race morning: pack them with your bib the night before.
We earn a small fee if you buy through these links. The price is the same.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.
Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.
Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.

Holds your bib without safety pins through your top, with loops for up to 8 gels.
Clip the bib on the night before, so it goes on with your shorts in the morning.
