The organiser puts the finish in the middle of the Bonn city centre, on the Marktplatz, and calls it a highlight: every finisher is received with loud applause by the Bonn crowd.

After the line comes the medal, then the food village on the Hofgartenwiese, which is also where the start is.

The organiser sets up 11 aid stations for the marathon, and every one hands out drinks and bananas. Marathon runners may also have their own supplies deposited at each station, at the start of the station. Those supplies are dropped off at bib pick-up on Friday or Saturday.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.

Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.
