Over the whole seven miles the road runs between 1.3 m and 11.0 m above sea level. The highest point is at 3.8 km, the lowest at 6.1 km, and the total climb is 18.4 m. The organiser’s own advice is to line up at your expected pace or slower, “since the course is hilly”, so the short rises along the shore are worth respecting.

Whole courseTacticsPulse starts from 8:04, two minutes apart2026: wheelchairs 7:40, elite women 7:50, seeded 8:00, then pulses from 8:04.

In 2026 the Wheelchair Division started first at 7:40, the elite women at 7:50, the elite men and seeded runners at 8:00, and the first pulse start for the general field at 8:04, with about 2 minutes between pulses inside each pace group. Which pulse a runner starts in is up to them, and the organiser suggests lining up at the expected pace or slower. Runners who could not finish by 9:45 were warned they might share the road with traffic.

In 2026 the organiser listed toilet facilities along the course around two, two-and-a-half and three miles, Poland Spring water at the start, along the course and at the finish, and an official Gatorade station at mile four and at the finish. Water belts and hydration packs were not allowed on the buses or the course, and the course is narrow enough that runners were asked not to run more than two abreast.
