The organiser sends the 10K from Burrard and Georgia north to Denman Street, through the West End to English Bay, east along the waterfront, south over the Burrard Street Bridge and on past Science World to the finish outside BC Place.
The organiser describes a scenic course through the downtown core, “starting at Burrard and Georgia heading North to Denman street”. From there it “runs through Vancouver’s West End to the English Bay waterfront and then heads east along Beach and Pacific Ave with scenic views of the waterfront.”
The second half crosses the water: “The runners then head south across the Burrard Street Bridge and pass along South False Creek and Mount Pleasant neighbourhoods. The runners head past Science world and Finish outside the iconic BC Place Stadium.”

Runners are “encouraged to enter the stadium to enjoy the wrap party along with your family and friends”, where the organiser lists live entertainment, the awards ceremony for the top finishers and free fruit, bagels and refreshments.
For meeting people afterwards the FAQ says: “Go to the Meeting Zone inside BC Place Stadium. The zone is located in seating area Sections 234-238.” It adds: “Absolutely no waiting in the Finish Area.” Gear dropped at the start line is collected inside BC Place.

The organiser says “Entrants of similar ability are grouped in time zones and start the race in a series of short timed intervals.” The zones run from seeded Pink (up to 0:38:00 for men and 0:44:00 for women, by application) through Yellow, Green, White and Purple (1:15:01 to 1:45:00) to Blue, the walking division from 1:45.
Entrants “with walking poles, baby joggers, strollers and non-competitive wheelchairs must start” in Blue. To start beside a friend, both choose the same estimated finish time on the entry form, and if your levels differ, “you must choose the zone that’s suitable for the slowest participant.” To move up a corral, go to the Solutions Desk at the expo with your bib; to drop back, the FAQ says you can “just show up at any corrals behind your original one.”

On the time limit the FAQ is direct: “you must finish walking/running the 10K course in 2 hours and 30 minutes, as we’re mandated by the City of Vancouver to open road closures at a certain time.” The FAQ adds that there is no race day registration.
For getting to the start, the organiser says “Best to take Skytrain into Downtown Vancouver. Burrard or Granville stations are best.” Roads “start closing as early as 5 a.m. around the Start Line & Finish Line areas”. If you drive, it points to BC Place for parking, with “some free street parking and a number of pay parking lots”, and warns that street closures start at 5:00 am in the start and finish zones.

Race fuel
One every 40 minutes, by the clock:
Under about 75 minutes most runners need no gel: water at the aid stations does it.
For your long training runs:
Our pick: SiS BETA Fuel gel, box of 6, strawberry and lime. 40 g of carbohydrate a gel, about twice a usual gel, from two kinds of sugar your body takes up side by side. Enough for race day and two test long runs.
Easy to forget on race morning: pack them with your bib the night before.
We earn a small fee if you buy through these links. The price is the same.
In Canada the button opens GU Energy Gel, Salted Caramel, 24-pack, the best seller there.
Outside the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the UK and Ireland, Spain and Portugal, Italy, the rest of the EU and Canada the button opens GU Energy Gel, Chocolate Outrage, 24-pack on Amazon.com, the best seller there.
An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.
Put it on before you leave for the start: heels and toes, inner thighs, under a bra or heart-rate strap.
Try it on a long run first, like everything you use on race day.

Holds your bib without safety pins through your top, with loops for up to 8 gels.
Clip the bib on the night before, so it goes on with your shorts in the morning.
Keep the number on the front, where officials and photographers can see it.

One tablet in a bottle puts back some of the salt you sweat out.
One tablet in 500 ml of water in the hour before the start.
Only if you have used them in training: nothing new on race day.

One in a pocket cushions a blister if one starts.
Put it on clean, dry skin and leave it until it comes off by itself.
Give a couple to whoever comes to cheer, so they are there at the km you need them.
