The organiser calls this a marathon that rewards control and consistent pacing over the early miles, with the four main climbs out of the way by mile 11. They are on Preston Park Avenue at mile 1 (20 metres gained over 700 metres), St James’s Street (12 metres), and the rise onto Marine Drive towards the cliffs, including a steady 14-metre climb into the Ovingdean U-turn. The organiser gives the whole marathon’s elevation gain as 477 feet, about 145 metres.

The organiser has not published a 2027 course map yet.

From Preston Park the course loops through the city centre, past the Theatre Royal and the Royal Pavilion and round The Level, then drops to Marine Parade and rises onto Marine Drive. It runs out to the Ovingdean U-turn, where the organiser says the view west along the cliffs back to the city is the reward, and returns above Brighton Marina past the halfway point.

At mile 15 it joins Madeira Drive for a flat out-and-back along Volk’s Electric Railway, back to Aquarium Junction and the sights the organiser lists: Brighton Pier, the i360, the Grand Hotel and the Peace Statue.

The organiser expects the stretch from mile 20 to be where it gets tough, with Hove’s streets out cheering along Grand Avenue and Church Road. The course then takes Kingsway and Hove Promenade, passing the colourful beach huts at mile 25, goes by Hove Plinth and finishes at Hove Lawns, where the organiser has a Sensory Calm Space.
