The event has been one of Cambodia’s biggest community events of the year since it started in 1996, and it welcomes runners from all over the world. The organiser, Angkor Hospital for Children, describes the setting as a sunrise over the Angkor Wat temple complex, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The race raises funds for the hospital’s care of children across Cambodia, and runners are invited to fundraise on top of their entry fee.

An invisible layer before the start keeps seams, straps and shoes from rubbing skin raw.
