km 0 to 42.2GeometryFew turns, down the canyonFew turns on the way down Provo Canyon, past Deer Creek Reservoir.

After the start in Wallsburg the marathon descends into Provo Canyon and follows the Provo River on canyon roads. The organiser names Deer Creek Reservoir, Bridal Veil Falls and the mountains on every side, and says the course has very few turns. Spectators have parking in the canyon at Mount Timpanogos Park, Canyon Glen Park, Nunn’s Park and Deer Creek State Park, where traffic is limited to one lane toward Provo.

km 0 to 42.2TacticsA Boston qualifier with a 6:00 startJust under Boston's 1,500 ft drop limit; 6:00 start, six-hour limit.

The organiser calls the Utah Valley Marathon a fast Boston qualifying race with no time penalty, because the 1,444 ft descent stays just under Boston’s 1,500 ft cutoff. The gun goes at 6:00 on Saturday 5 June 2027 in Wallsburg, with shuttles from Provo between 3:10 and 4:15. The course closes after six hours. The organiser expects 35 to 45 degrees F at the start and 65 to 75 at the finish, and advises light layers for the start.
