The organiser describes the half marathon as starting in downtown Indianapolis and including a 2.5-mile lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where, as a tradition, runners kiss the bricks at the Yard of Bricks on the oval track. It calls the course flat and fast.

Its spectator guide puts Mile 5 on Main Street in Speedway, on the way to the track, and the runners’ way in at Gate 2, at 16th and Georgetown. The gates to the Speedway close at about 10:00. After that, anyone who has not yet entered the track is redirected to rejoin the other runners on the course.

The organiser’s schedule for race day, Saturday 8 May 2027, starts athletes with disabilities at 07:35, then five waves at 07:40, 07:55, 08:10, 08:25 and 08:40, all on Washington Street downtown. Runners are placed in corrals by estimated finish time, and the FAQ says a runner may always move back to a later wave but never forward from the one printed on the bib.

The time limit is 4 hours, an 18-minute mile pace, and it counts from the moment the last participant crosses the start line. A runner who cannot hold that pace is asked to board the bus that follows the back of the field.

The organiser’s spectator guide names the final mile on New York Street the Victory Mile, and puts the finish line grandstands on New York Street near Military Park. After the line, runners pass through a services area for a medal and refreshments, and are then filtered into the post-race party at Military Park, which the schedule has open from 07:00 to 14:00. Spectators are not allowed inside the services area, so the guide suggests meeting in the northwest part of the park.
