The marathon and half marathon start at 14th and Vine Streets at the University of Nebraska, in waves from 7:00 a.m. The finish area is in Memorial Loup, north of Mueller Tower at 1306 U Street. Roads around it are closed, so the organiser tells spectators to park downtown and walk. Checked bags are carried to a bag claim in the Stadium Drive parking garage beyond the finish line.

Each water station gives water, Gatorade Endurance formula and ice, and GU is available at all aid stations on the back half of the marathon course. Each station is staffed with a physician, and a SAG wagon takes runners who withdraw.

The city’s permits set the marathon time limit at 6 hours 15 minutes, 14:18 per mile. A final-finisher pacer follows the field, and runners who fall behind the cut-off schedule are offered SAG transport or the sidewalks.
